Vermicomposting in the cold-climate apartment - Hot Climate! ??

I didn’t think I’d end up writing like this in a series for a cold-climate.

Early July 2002 Toronto Canada suffered a heat-wave, and my balcony faces East. We had temperatures in the mid to high 30C mark, and my two plastic tubs caught a lot of direct sunlight, probably baking my worms.

By Wednesday I’d twigged to the problem, and took a length cardboard carton, removed both ends, and fitted it like a sleeve over my mini-tower.

The cardboard should shield the plastic bins from direct rays of the sun, and the trapped air will provide a heat barrier.
